Power Transmission Company Nepal Limited (PTCN) is the JV Company of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL) and IL&FS Energy Development Company Limited (IEDCL). It has constructed and commissioned 400 kV D/C twin moose from Bittamod (near Sursand in India) to Dhalkebar of 42.10 Kms length (Nepal portion of Indo-Nepal inter-connection i.e. 400 kV D/C Muzaffarpur – Dhalkebar transmission line to be initially charged at 220 kV level) in the district of Mohatari and Dhanusha of Nepal. This line will established synchronous inter-connection of Indian and Nepalese electrical grids so as to facilitate import / export power between India and Nepal. The transmission line has been completed and commissioned on February 19, 2016. The line was dedicated to the nations on February 20, 2016 by the Prime Ministers of Nepal and India.
The transmission line consists of 42.10 kms of 400 kV D/C twin moose transmission line from Dhalkebar to Bittamod (Nepal Border). It includes construction of OPGW for communication purposes. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is the beneficiary of the line.
The project establishes synchronous interconnection between Nepalese & Indian electrical grids so as to import power from India at present and export power from Nepal at a later stage upon completion of ongoing hydro projects in Nepal.
